Precipitous (adj); with haste
Sometimes baby just declares how much they love the womb by refusing to make their debut out of it. Sometimes baby just needs a little nudge to get the party started.
For this mom in particular, as she patiently waited for baby number four, it was becoming apparent that it may be time to step in and offer baby some help. Her and her midwife Leila of Devotion Midwifery decided to give caster oil a try as she neared 42 weeks gestation. The next day, as I waited for the call to head over, things were advancing under everyone's noses. I received a text saying to head over whenever - knowing this baby will probably be born today, I gathered my things and headed out the door. I pulled up and as I got to the door and knocked, heard all three kids rush to me yelling "she came! she just fell out! she's here!". I calmly walked in and quickly turned my camera on and started snapping. Baby had been born just minutes before I arrived, and without warning. Sometimes birth is just that quick!
While I may have missed the actual birth, I captured the moments that mattered most - this family meeting their newest member. Birth photography is a promise to capture the story of your baby's birth no matter how it happens, and on June 16th, 2024 in a quiet home in New Orleans, a baby girl was finally coaxed out of the womb 13 days passed her estimated due date.
